On August 27, 2026, Mr. Saweetachat Jabsilp, a lecturer at the School of Law, Walailak University, participated as a panelist in a side event at the “Annual Human Rights Assembly 2026.” He joined the discussion topic titled “Restarting Life, Restoring Rights to Society,” organized by the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) at the Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre, Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok.
The forum served as a platform for experts and network partners to exchange perspectives on rights within the justice system. During the session, Mr. Saweetachat discussed the issue of “Expungement of Criminal Records,” exploring strategies to strike a balance between the rights of former convicts returning to society, public safety, and crime prevention.
His participation reflects the active role of the School of Law, Walailak University, in applying legal expertise and academic perspectives to drive human rights issues forward. Furthermore, it reinforces societal understanding regarding the restoration of rights and opportunities, helping former offenders reintegrate into society appropriately and fairly.
