On 24 July 2026, the School of Law, Walailak University, led by Lecturer Nittaya Limrueangkul, together with students enrolled in LAW63-366 English for Lawyers, conducted an academic service activity under the project “Know Your Legal English: A Vocabulary for Students” at Triam Udom Suksa School of the South, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The activity brought together both Thai students and an international student from Russia enrolled in the English for Lawyers course, who jointly organized learning activities and shared their knowledge with the participating school students.

The activity was designed to apply knowledge from the English for Lawyers course to academic service. The law students collaboratively developed informational leaflets on English legal vocabulary and used them as learning materials to introduce legal terms, their meanings, and examples of their use in accessible contexts. This provided the school students with an opportunity to experience English in a legal context beyond the General English typically encountered in the classroom.

In addition to learning from the leaflets, the participating students were encouraged to read and pronounce English vocabulary, practice speaking and interacting in English with the law students, and take part in question-and-answer games and vocabulary meaning quizzes. These activities helped reinforce what they had learned while creating an enjoyable and participatory learning environment.

The participation of the Russian international student added another dimension to the activity by providing opportunities for authentic English communication. School students were able to speak and participate in activities with an international student, using English as a shared language of communication. At the same time, Thai and international law students worked together to share their knowledge with young learners. In this way, English was not merely a subject studied in the classroom, but also a practical tool for communication and knowledge exchange among people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

For students enrolled in LAW63-366 English for Lawyers, the outreach activity provided an opportunity to apply their Legal English knowledge in a real-world setting. Their involvement ranged from preparing educational materials and explaining the meanings of legal terms to practicing speaking and pronunciation with the school students and facilitating learning games. Through these activities, the law students developed Legal English skills, communication abilities, knowledge transfer skills, and teamwork experience, in accordance with the project’s objective of strengthening students’ ability to communicate legal knowledge in English to the public.

For the participating school students, learning through speaking, pronunciation practice, question-and-answer activities, and games helped make specialized English legal vocabulary more approachable. The activity also broadened their perspectives on the use of English for further education, access to international legal news and information, and as a foundation for those who may be interested in pursuing law or related fields in the future.

Alignment with THE Sustainability Impact Ratings

The activity contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes access to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities. It is also aligned with the following indicators under the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings:

• Indicator 4.3.4: Education outreach activities beyond campus. The activity extends university knowledge and learning resources in Legal English to school students beyond the university campus through educational leaflets, reading and pronunciation practice, English conversation, and vocabulary games. The participation of an international student also provided school students with an opportunity to use English in authentic communication and to learn in a linguistically and culturally diverse environment.
• Indicator 17.2.1: Relationships with regional NGOs and government for SDG policy.
  The activity strengthens collaboration between the School of Law, Walailak University, and local educational institutions in promoting legal and English knowledge among young people, while supporting networks for educational activities and academic services that contribute to sustainable development.

Overall, the activity connected teaching and learning with academic service to society, enabling students to transform knowledge gained from their coursework into benefits for young people in the community while gaining practical experience themselves. The activity at Triam Udom Suksa School of the South also reflected an international dimension of learning through collaboration between Thai and international students.
