Walailak University, through the School of Law, continues its unstoppable mission of community outreach to foster a Lifelong Learning society. On July 27, 2026, a dedicated team of over 40 faculty members, staff, and law students organized an academic service event to promote the well-being and potential of the elderly at the Rehabilitation and Potential Development Center for the Elderly (Thung Tha Lat), Nakhon Si Thammarat City Municipality.

🚀 Delivering Knowledge to the “Seniors”! WU School of Law Serves Easy-to-Understand Legal and English Lessons 🎉

Who says the law is too complicated for the elderly? Toss that thought away! The School of Law team specifically tailored this outreach for senior citizens, led by Lecturer Khwanmanee Maneechote, Head of the “Empowering Youth with Legal Knowledge to Prevent Drug Abuse” project. The initiative transformed traditional legal education into a tool that “intellectually arms” the elderly, making them a strong pillar of protection for their families!

🚀 1. “Seniors Guarding the Youth” Campaign (United Against Drugs) Under the leadership of Lecturer Khwanmanee Maneechote, students from LAW67-231 adapted the critical issue of “youth drug problems” for a senior audience. By educating grandparents on the warning signs of modern drug threats and related laws, the project empowered them to become a “family-level surveillance network,” effectively creating a protective shield for their grandchildren against drug abuse!

💡 2. Stay Law-Savvy, Protect Your Pension from Scammers! Because seniors are prime targets for scammers, senior students from LAW67-211 (Civil and Commercial Code: Obligations) brought their best tips to the table! They exposed the tricks of “call center gangs and financial scams” while teaching basic contract law. This equipped the elderly with the knowledge to spot frauds, protect their savings, and avoid falling victim to unfair lending schemes.

🌍 3. Go Global: English for Seniors Students from LAW63-367 brought fun and accessibility to language learning! They simplified International Legal News and Legal Vocabulary commonly heard on TV news into senior-friendly media (large-print brochures). They also provided hands-on guidance on how to scan QR Codes, helping the elderly confidently step into the digital world and access global information!

🎯 Fun with a Global Purpose (SDGs Integration) Every activity was meticulously designed to align with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)!

• 🎯 SDG 4.3.4 (Equal Access to Quality Education): We broke down age barriers through Lifelong Learning. Highly active workshops and group sessions allowed seniors equal access to legal knowledge. Examples included role-playing how to handle scam calls and practicing QR code scanning—activities that fostered pride and stimulated learning among the elderly.
• 🎯 SDG 17.2.5 (Building Sustainable Learning Processes): We elevated operations through strong Educational Partnerships. The School of Law, Walailak University, joined forces with Nakhon Si Thammarat City Municipality and the Thung Tha Lat Senior Center to drive a learning society, establish an elderly care network, and create sustainable, long-term community development.

🌱✨ Towards a Learning Society and Sustainable Development This activity provided more than just smiles and fun; it built essential “Life Skills,” enabling seniors to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. By building strong immunity against scammers and empowering them to protect the youth from drugs, this initiative drives Nakhon Si Thammarat toward becoming a sustainable Learning Society where all generations thrive together!
