The School of Law, Walailak University, led by faculty members, staff, and students, organized a community legal outreach activity under the project “Simple Law: Know Your Rights, Stay Ahead” during the “Phra Phrom Games” on 7–8 August 2025 at Debsirin Nakhon Si Thammarat School, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and Triam Udom Suksa School of the South, Phra Phrom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

This activity focused on providing basic legal knowledge relevant to daily life, such as family law, property law, inheritance law, and contract law. The aim was to enhance legal awareness among students and young people, empowering them to protect their rights, avoid exploitation, and guard against fraud—particularly from call center scams, which have become a serious social problem in Thailand today.

The project is part of the integration of academic coursework with community engagement, ensuring that classroom learning is effectively applied in real-life contexts. The courses incorporated include:

  • LAW67-213 Property Law
  • LAW67-221 Specific Contracts I
  • LAW67-222 Specific Contracts II
  • LAW67-224 Loan, Deposit, and Security Transactions Law

This initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4.3.4: Education outreach activities beyond campus;
  • SDG 17.2.5: Building sustainable learning processes to enhance education and create equal opportunities for youth and community members to access knowledge.

In addition, the project aligns with the UI Green Metric World University Rankings under the category of Education and Research (ED):

  • ED1: Ratio of sustainability-related courses to total courses offered
  • ED10: Number of sustainability-related community services organized by the university with active student involvement

Miss Yosita Saikhwan, Acting Head of the School of Law and Project Leader, stated: “This outreach activity not only allowed students to gain valuable experiential learning from real-life situations but also provided an important opportunity to contribute positively to society. Most importantly, it helped young people develop legal immunity, become aware of fraudulent schemes, avoid falling victim to call center scams, and gain equal access to essential legal knowledge.”

The “Simple Law: Know Your Rights, Stay Ahead” project is scheduled to organize a total of four activities across local schools and local communities in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, continuously expanding access to legal knowledge for youth and society.
