The School of Law, Walailak University, continues to advance its academic outreach mission through the \u201cUpskills-Reskills Human Rights Law for People\u201d<\/strong> project organize by Ajarn Sawettachat Jubsilp, bringing legal knowledge from the university classroom to young people in educational institutions. The project aims to strengthen students\u2019 understanding of laws that are essential to everyday life while promoting awareness of their rights and responsibilities as members of society.<\/p>

As part of the project, academic outreach activities were conducted for students at Debsirin <\/strong>Nakhon Si Thammarat <\/strong>School on 23 July 2026<\/strong> and Triam Udom (Southern)Suksa School 24July 2026<\/strong>. The activities focused on presenting legal knowledge in an accessible and engaging manner, connecting legal principles with situations and issues that young people may encounter in their everyday lives. The initiative seeks to demonstrate that law is not merely an academic subject, but practical knowledge that can help young people understand and protect their rights while respecting the rights of others.<\/p>

The learning activities covered laws concerning older persons, children and youth law, and general laws that are essential to everyday life<\/strong>. In relation to laws concerning older persons, students learned about legal rights and protections, as well as the roles of families and society in respecting and promoting the rights of older persons. The activities aimed to foster an understanding of intergenerational relationships based on respect and human dignity.<\/p>

The sessions on children and youth law<\/strong> focused on helping students understand their rights and legal protections, as well as their responsibilities as young members of society. This knowledge enables young people to recognize situations that may affect their rights, become more aware of potential legal issues, and understand appropriate ways to seek assistance and protect themselves when necessary.<\/p>

In addition, the project introduced students to general laws relevant to everyday life<\/strong>, providing them with practical legal knowledge that can be applied beyond the classroom. The activities emphasized real-life examples and interactive discussions, allowing students to connect legal concepts with situations they may encounter in their daily lives.<\/p>

The Upskills-Reskills Human Rights Law for People<\/strong> project reflects the School of Law\u2019s commitment to bringing legal knowledge beyond the university and making it accessible to society, particularly young people who will play an important role in shaping the future of society. Promoting the principles of \u201cknowing your rights, knowing your responsibilities, and knowing the law\u201d<\/strong> contributes to the development of responsible citizens who can exercise their rights appropriately, respect the rights of others, and participate constructively in society.<\/p>

The project also provides Walailak University law students with valuable opportunities for experiential learning<\/strong>. By participating in the preparation and delivery of educational activities, students develop their ability to communicate legal knowledge, adapt complex legal concepts to different audiences, and gain practical experience in engaging with schools and communities. This approach allows students to develop professional skills while cultivating a sense of social responsibility as future legal professionals.<\/p>

Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 and SDG 17<\/strong><\/p>

The Upskills-Reskills Human Rights Law for People<\/strong> project directly contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education<\/strong> by expanding opportunities for young people to access legal knowledge, human rights education, and practical knowledge essential to everyday life beyond conventional classroom learning. Through accessible and interactive learning activities, students are encouraged to apply their knowledge to real-life situations and develop greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities.<\/p>

The project also contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals<\/strong> by fostering collaboration between the School of Law, Walailak University, educational institutions, and relevant partner networks<\/strong> in sharing knowledge and creating meaningful learning opportunities for young people. Such collaboration enables academic knowledge and institutional resources to be shared for the broader benefit of society and supports the development of sustainable educational partnerships.<\/p>

Through the project, the School of Law aims to ensure that legal learning does not remain confined to the university classroom but can be transferred to young people and society more broadly.
