📝 The visit commenced with an official opening ceremony, including the Indonesian national anthem, prayer, and a welcome address by
Prof. Dr. Putu Gede Arya Sumerta Yasa, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University.
Remarks on behalf of Walailak University were delivered by Mr. Kanokphol Nikornpest, reaffirming the university’s vision for academic collaboration 🇹🇭.
🤝 A highlight of the event was the academic cooperation between the two institutions, paving the way for joint efforts in education, research, student and faculty exchange, and international academic initiatives.

On 29 May 2025, the Bachelor of Laws program at Walailak University underwent an internal quality assurance assessment at the program level, in accordance with the WUQA Programme Assessment Report criteria for the academic year 2024 (1 June 2024 – 31 May 2025). The assessment took place at Meeting Room 1, Academic Building 5, Walailak University.

This year, the assessment committee was honored to include Dr. Poramet Hemrachatanon, Associate Professor Dr. Ratchadathip Upathumpracha, and Associate Professor Dr. Jintanee Rusue, who served as internal quality assurance evaluators for the program.

   Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand – The School of Law at Walailak University undertook an official visit to Chongqing, People’s Republic of China, from May 13 to 17, 2025, to advance its vision of becoming a globally recognized institution as outlined in the World University Rankings framework, and to enhance the School’s international academic activities.
    The delegation was led by Associate Professor Nares Kesaprakorn, Acting Dean of the School of Law, and included Lecturer Taweeporn Khongkaew, Acting Associate Dean; Lecturer Khwanmanee Maneechote, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs; Assistant Professor Siwarut Laikram, Acting Head of the Legal Research Center; and Dr. Kratthima Pattanasin, Lecturer and Project Leader of the “International Leadership in Education and Research Network (iLEARN)” initiative for fiscal year 2025.
    The primary objectives of the visit were to strengthen the School’s reputation in legal education and research, expand international partnerships, and promote collaborative research outputs. The delegation also engaged in discussions aimed at establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Civil and Commercial Law at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) in the near future.
During the visit, the School of Law held strategic meetings and site visits with three major organizations in Chongqing:
Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) – One of China’s top three law universities (engaging two faculties and one research center)
China–Lancang–Mekong–Southeast Asia International Education and Training Alliance
Tahota Law Firm – Ranked among the top ten law firms in China
Additionally, the delegation engaged with five related institutions:

    The visit also provided opportunities for academic exchange with faculty members from Chongqing-based institutions, including Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing University, and Chongqing University of Education, as well as legal and business sector partners.
Key achievements aligned with the project’s goals and performance indicators (KPIs) include:
Delivery of a special lecture for students at the School of International Education, SWUPL
Bilateral discussions and planning of future international academic and research collaborations
Looking ahead, both university-wide and faculty-level MoUs are expected to be signed, facilitating student and faculty exchanges and joint research endeavors.
    This visit marks a significant milestone in the School of Law’s internationalization efforts and reaffirms Walailak University’s commitment to enhancing academic excellence and global engagement in legal education and research.

On 3 May 2025, the School of Law, Walailak University, participated in the 41st Thailand University Staff Sports Competition, known as the “Tumpang Games,” under the theme “Power of Spirit,” reflecting the athletes’ sportsmanship—knowing how to win, how to lose, and how to forgive.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Waraporn Rungtrakan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). Also present were Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University; Mr. Witthaya Kiewrod, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province; Associate Professor Dr. Chusit Pradabphet, Chairman of the Thailand University Sports Committee (TUSC); Associate Professor Dr. Chanchai Suksuwan, Chair of the Subcommittee on Sports Promotion for Excellence, TUSC; and delegations of athletes and officials from 59 institutions nationwide. The event was held at the Tumpang Central Sports Stadium, Walailak University, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

On 30 April 2025, Lecturer Tinlapas Chuphan Jaivan of the School of Law received a bouquet of flowers from Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, in recognition of university personnel who have secured research grants from external funding sources for the fiscal year 2025 (April round).

The presentation took place prior to the 4th Administrative Meeting of Walailak University for 2025, held in the Moklan Room, 3rd Floor, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisoan Building, Walailak University. On 25 April 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Sarawut Paliphot, Vice President, represented Walailak University in the wreath-laying ceremony to pay royal tribute in commemoration of the anniversary of the passing of King Naresuan the Great. Representing the School of Law, Lecturer Taweeporn Khongkaew, Acting Deputy Dean, together with staff members, also participated in this respectful occasion. The ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Administrative Organization.

This day marks the anniversary of the passing of King Naresuan the Great, a courageous warrior king who liberated Thailand from foreign domination and contributed greatly to the kingdom’s prosperity in terms of the economy, society, and arts and culture. His legacy of safeguarding Thailand’s sovereignty has allowed the nation to endure and flourish to this day.

   On April 24, 2025, the School of Law, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development, officially welcomed Miss Adinda Isna Nabila, a law student from Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya (UNTAG), Republic of Indonesia.

  Miss Nabila’s internship is conducted under the framework of academic collaboration established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Walailak University and UNTAG. She will be undertaking a three-month cooperative education program at the School of Law, Walailak University.

   The objective of this program is to enhance her professional experience in the legal field and to strengthen academic relations and international cooperation between the two institutions.

On 18 April 2025, the School of Law, Walailak University, sent student representatives to participate in the Legal Speech Contest organized by the Faculty of Law, Suratthani Rajabhat University, under the topic “The Role of Lawyers in Local Development.” This contest provided a platform for students to creatively apply and communicate their legal knowledge.

Two student representatives took part in the competition:
• Mr. Narongchan Tonnam (2nd year)
• Ms. Salimtip Boonyai (1st year)

👩🏻‍💻 The students were supervised by Dr. Krathima Pattanasin and Lecturer Natthaphon Buanguen, with additional coaching provided by Lecturer Pradipa Walailak University Law Students Compete in Legal Speech Contest on “The Role of Lawyers in Local Development”

🏅 As a result of their efforts, the students received an Honorable Mention Award.
