On 9 April 2025, administrators, faculty members, and staff of the School of Law participated in the “Walailak Songkran: Preserving Thai Traditions” Festival 2025, held at the central hall of the School of Architecture and Design Practice Building, Walailak University.

The event featured activities such as the ceremonial bathing of the Buddha image, pouring water to pay respect and seek blessings from elders, and food booths serving traditional Thai delicacies to attendees. These activities aimed to promote and preserve Thai arts and culture, uphold the beautiful Songkran traditions, and bring good fortune to mark the Thai New Year.

On 28 March 2025, the administrators, faculty members, and staff of the School of Law joined the merit-making and alms-giving ceremony in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Walailak University’s founding. The event was held at Walailak University to mark this auspicious occasion and to bring blessings and prosperity to the University community.

On 24 March 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrangsilp, Vice President of Walailak University, and Lecturer Tinlapas Chuphan Jaiwan, Faculty Member of the School of Law and Principal Investigator, attended the Signing Ceremony for Research Grants for New Researchers in the Capital Market Sector.

The ceremony was held between the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), and higher education institutions. The signing took place at the Press Conference Room, 1st Floor, Phra Chom Klao Building, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (Yothi).

The signing was jointly conducted by Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and Mr. Jakchai Boonyawat, Manager of the Capital Market Development Fund. Also present were Dr. Panpemsak Arunee, Acting Advisor on Higher Education Development, Science, Research and Innovation, along with executives from nine higher education institutions and the researchers awarded the grants.

During the ceremony, the new generation of capital market researchers who received funding from the Office of the Permanent Secretary and the CMDF were introduced. The awardees included:

Professor Dr. Supachai stated that this year there was a high level of interest among researchers, and the Office of the Permanent Secretary and the CMDF selected 10 grants to be awarded. The research projects will be conducted over two years, aiming to develop and advance the capital market. The funding is also intended to support new researchers in enhancing their potential and producing quality research that will contribute to the development of Thailand’s capital market and have a long-term positive impact on the country’s economic system.

The School of Law, Walailak University, extends its congratulations to the lecturers of the Bachelor of Laws program for achieving an average teaching evaluation score above 4.50 under the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for Semester 2/2024.

On 13 March 2025, Assistant Professor Khwanmanee Maneechote, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and Lecturer Natthaphon Buanguen, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, attended a capacity-building workshop for student advisors (Helpers). The training was organized by the Smile & Smart Center, Student Promotion and Development Division, at Academic Building 3, Walailak University.

The objective of this training was to enhance the competencies of student advisors in providing care and guidance to students in collaboration with academic advisors, particularly in cases referred by the academic advisors. In addition, the training aimed to strengthen coordination and follow-up in offering counseling and supporting the implementation of projects by peer support leaders (Junior Helpers) within the School, ensuring that activities align with the planned objectives.

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, students enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws Program, as part of the Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization Law course (LAW63-321), participated in a workshop aimed at disseminating knowledge on the legal framework surrounding the reorganization of debtor enterprises classified as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The workshop was led by Lecturer Tinnlapas Chuphan Jaiwan, the course instructor, and was held at Chada@Nakhon Hotel, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, as part of the fiscal year 2025 academic activities.

The objective of the workshop was to enhance students’ understanding of the Bankruptcy Act with a particular focus on SME debtor reorganization, specifically the concept of the Pre-packaged Reorganization Plan. The event also provided a platform for students to engage with expert opinions and legal perspectives, thereby enabling them to apply this legal knowledge effectively in their future professional endeavors.

   On 11th February 2025, the School of Law at Walailak University organised the “Cultural Preservation Activity – Cloth Offering to the Relic Stupa on Makha Bucha Day 2025.” Faculty members and students participated in this meaningful event at Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan Temple, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

   The aim of this activity was to promote and preserve the valuable cultural traditions and customs of Thailand. It provided an opportunity for law students to engage in Buddhist religious practices, reflecting the faith of the majority of Thai people.

   On 7th February 2025, two teams of students from the School of Law, Walailak University, earned recognition at the 2nd National Conference on Law, Social Sciences, and Humanities, held at the Crystal Hotel, Hat Yai, Songkhla. The conference was organised by the Faculty of Law, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus.

   The students won the First Prize (Outstanding Academic Paper) and Second Runner-Up (Honourable Mention Academic Paper) for their submissions under the theme “Building Security in a Changing World.”
