   On 29th January 2025, the School of Law at Walailak University organised a special lecture on Administrative Courts and Administrative Case Procedures for the second semester of the 2024 academic year. The event was honoured by the presence of Mr Trakhan Kiattisitiraj, Chief Judge of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Administrative Court, who delivered the lecture. The event took place at the Main Lecture Building 1, Walailak University.

   This initiative aimed to provide students with an opportunity to exchange knowledge, enhance their skills in case adjudication, management, and the practical application of their learning. Topics covered included the inquisitorial system, the jurisdiction of administrative courts, procedures for administrative cases, and the use of electronic filing systems for administrative cases. The event was designed to enable students to gain both theoretical and practical insights directly from an experienced administrative court judge.

On Saturday, 18 January 2025, the School of Law, Walailak University, together with the Thailand Institute of Justice (Public Organization) and the Lawyers Council of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage, held a Public Hearing on the Review and Amendment of the Civil and Commercial Code (Southern Region) under the seminar theme:
“Looking Back – Looking Ahead: Is Thai Law Outdated or Flawless?”
with a special focus on Commercial and Business Law in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Civil and Commercial Code. The event took place at Grand Fortune 1 Conference Room, 1st Floor, Grand Fortune Hotel, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The objective of the seminar was to gather insights and perspectives from distinguished experts, academics, and legal practitioners regarding challenges and obstacles in the enforcement of the Civil and Commercial Code. The feedback will be used to revise and further develop the provisions of the Code to better reflect the evolving social, economic, and technological context.

The program featured a Special Lecture on “Revisiting the Civil and Commercial Code on Its 100th Anniversary: Challenges and Significance for a Fair and Modern Legal System” and a Panel Discussion on “Looking Back – Looking Ahead: Is the Civil and Commercial Code Outdated or Flawless?”.

The Law Program, School of Law, Walailak University, hosted an academic collaboration meeting with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) at Walailak University.

On this occasion, Asst. Dean for International Affairs, Mr. Kanokpol Nikornpaes, together with executives and faculty members, had the honor of warmly welcoming Dr. Suherman, S.H., LL.M., Dean of the Faculty of Law, UPNVJ, and Mr. Abdul Kholiq, S.H., M.H.

The meeting aimed to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions, focusing on:

  • The establishment of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)

  • Student and academic staff exchanges

  • Joint research support and development

  • The promotion of academic activities and the advancement of legal capacity on an international level

   On December 25, 2024, the faculty and staff of the Faculty of Law participated in the university’s annual staff sports day event for the fiscal year 2025 at Walailak University. This year, the Faculty of Law embraced a pink-themed participation, with the aim of promoting camaraderie and strengthening inter-departmental relationships among the staff. The event was held at the Physical Education Building at Walailak University.

   On December 10, 2024, the Wu Law Legal Centre, in collaboration with the Walailak University Library Center, organised the Constitution Day Project for the Academic Year 2024. The event was designed to help students of the Faculty of Law understand the significance of Constitution Day, the supreme law of the country, and how it serves as a guide in their studies. It also encouraged students to seek legal provisions and factual information to support their poster designs.

    The event was held at the Architecture and Design Building, Temporary Walailak University Library Center.

Dr. Kratima Phattanasin, faculty member of the Law Program, School of Law, Walailak University, was invited as a guest lecturer to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Thailand’s Intellectual Property System for Chinese Enterprises: Focus on New Energy Industries”. The lecture was delivered in the Intellectual Property Law class of Assoc. Prof. Qin Jie, School of Economic Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL), People’s Republic of China.

On the same occasion, Dr. Kratima visited the China–ASEAN Legal Research Center in Chongqing, where she was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Yang Xinglong from the International Law School of SWUPL, along with faculty members. The meeting served as a valuable opportunity to explore potential academic collaborations, including student and researcher exchanges, joint research projects, and the development of academic networks in the field of law at both regional and international levels.

   On November 28-29, 2024, the Law Program held a meeting to negotiate academic cooperation with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta. The meeting was attended by Ajarn Kanokphol Nikornpach, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, along with administrators and faculty members, who welcomed Dr. Suherman, S.H., LL.M., Dean, and Mr. Abdul Kholiq, S.H., M.H. from Jakarta.

   (On 3 and 4 November 2023) school lecturers and students of the Law Programme, Walailak University participates in the traditional merit-making ceremony for the Buddha’s boat at Khao Lek Temple at the Ploenta Courtyard, Walailak University.
   There will be activities such as a demonstration of making boiled desserts and making merit by offering food to monks on a boat and listening to a sermon as well as activities that lead students, lecturers, and staff joined together to drag the monk’s boat back to Wat Khao Lek.
This is to promote and preserve the traditional culture of dragging monks as a cultural heritage of the southern people. It also encourages students, faculty, and staff to become aware of the value of southern arts, culture, and local wisdom.

    On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Faculty of Law organized a project on safe driving, understanding traffic laws. The lecturer was from Thasala Police Station. Students attended the training to provide knowledge at the Phattharamaphon Meeting Room, Walailak University Hospital Building.
    The activity was organized to provide students with knowledge about traffic discipline and proper road use, increase safety, and create an environment for road use, especially among Walailak University students. It also aims to increase understanding of the consequences of not following traffic laws and encourage road users to take responsibility for their road use, as well as to create cooperation between relevant agencies in the area, such as Thasala Police Station.
